Frequently Asked Questions
Enrolment
If I choose to submit my Application Form on paper, where do I send or fax my completed Application Form?
Course Coordinator
Taxation Institute of Australia
Level 2, 87-95 Pitt Street
SYDNEY NSW 2000
OR
Fax: 02 8223 0077
What is 'Conditional' Enrolment?
For the Advanced Tax course if candidates have not completed 5 years'
relevant experience they may still enrol and complete the assessment
for Advanced Tax. They will receive the award of Certificate of
Advanced Tax, however entry to Fellowship will not be conferred until 5
years' of relevant professional experience.
Can I apply to enrol with overseas qualifications?
Foundation Tax does not require any previous knowledge in Australian
Tax. In some cases for Applied Tax it may be necessary for you to
undertake the Overview module of Foundation Tax and do additional
reading of tax publications. This will depend on each individual. With
Advanced Tax it is necessary for you to have a working knowledge of
Australian Tax and to have worked for a number of years in the
profession.
Can I enrol if I am not a member of the Taxation Institute of Australia?
Yes, after successful completion you will be given the opportunity to join the Taxation Institute.
Do I have to be working in tax to study?
The answer to this question will change for each individual. While it
is ideal to be already employed in tax, if you do not work in this area
but are trying to make a career change there may be some additional
strategies or work applications that we can suggest.
Lectures
Who do I contact if I am unable to attend one of my lectures?
Please advise your employer if you are sponsored and also contact the Education Department.
What if I am sick and cannot make a lecture?
A doctor's certificate is required for absences due to illness. We also ask you to contact our Education Department to inform us of your absence. You should send the doctor's certificate to the National Office marked 'Private and Confidential'.
