CPD Requirements
Since 1 July 2006 Members are required to complete 30 hours of CPD per year made up of 50% structured and 50% unstructured. With the completion of one course of the Structured Education Program you will have fulfilled your CPD requirements for that current Membership year. The only exception being that there are no CPD requirements for Affiliate Members.
Note: ‘structured’ and ‘unstructured’ have particular meanings in relation to CPD.

Here are some commonly asked questions regarding CPD:
I understand I satisfy the CPD requirement for my Taxation Institute Membership, however I am a member of another association and would like the total breakdown of CPD hours.
Foundation Tax
- 3 hours x 7 face-to-face lectures
- 2 hours exam
- 8 x 45 minute Multiple Choice Assessment
- Recommend 6 hours per week in private study
Applied Tax
- 3 hours x 10 face-to-face lectures
- 3 hours exam
- Assignment preparation approximately 10 hours
- Recommend 6 hours per week in private study
Advanced Tax
- 3 hours x 6 face-to-face lectures
- 2 hours exam
- Assignment preparation approximately 8 hours
- Recommend 6 hours per week in private study
I am interested in enrolling in your courses, however I do not want to sit the assessments. Will I still obtain all course material and the CPD hours if I do not complete the assessments and only attend the lectures?
Yes, you should return an enrollment form and indicate that you will be undertaking the course for CPD hours only and not be undertaking the assessment components. If you attend all lectures you will satisfy the CPD requirements for your Taxation Institute Membership.
Note: your final result will be recorded as ‘not yet achieved’ and you will not be entitled to receive a certificate of completion if you do not successfully pass the course assessments.
