Foundation Tax is completed across one Study Period and runs for between 17 and 19 weeks. Course schedules do vary and may be offered in intensive format. You should always check the schedule for current course offerings.

Candidates can choose to study Foundation Tax by attending face-to-face lectures or by distance study.

Face-to-face mode

Lectures are currently offered in the following mainland capital cities and are held at CBD venues:

  • Adelaide (9am-12pm)
  • Brisbane (9am-12pm)
  • Hobart (9am-5pm intensive mode)
  • Melbourne (9am-12pm)
  • Perth (9am-12pm)
  • Sydney (6pm-9pm)

Lectures are scheduled fortnightly and are typically held on a Tuesday at the above times. You should refer to the current schedule for confirmation of lecture dates and timing in your state.

Regional face-to-face courses are also scheduled on a demand basis and are currently offered in:

  • Geelong
  • Gold Coast
  • Launceston

These lectures may be scheduled as full-day intensive lectures, held once per month (three lectures in total). The location for regional studies is organised by your local state office. Refer to the schedule for confirmation of regional offerings. If you are aware of a demand for a regional course in your local area, please contact your state office.

Note: Face-to-face offerings are subject to minimum numbers.

Distance mode

This mode of learning substitutes lectures with group web/teleconference tutorials, placing emphasis on self-study through comprehensive learning materials and increased communication with the Course Convenor and Tutorial Leader.

You will be provided with module guides to work through and if you have any tax technical questions you can email them to the Foundation Tax Course Convenor. Similarly if you have any difficulties with learning activities or any other difficulties, you have the opportunity to get assistance during scheduled web/teleconference sessions where a tutor will be on the call.
